Almost 4 years have passed since I started joining and making films. Editor, Actress, Director, and Producer. I experienced those kinds of roles. I can't say that I am a professional filmmaker, I can't even call my self a filmmaker because I just feel that I don't deserve it yet. For 4 years there are just 8 films that I cooperated, it includes the requirement films on a major subject.

The feeling when your film received an award is just satisfying, I have in mind that when you received an award your film had an impact on the judges as well as to the audiences, Note: for 8 films I just received 3 awards and I can still remember the feeling that I had during those days. June 1-4, I attended a film workshop at Malagos Garden Resort. It is a Davao Ngilngig Film Workshop. My university sponsored me to join this great and joyous event. One of our activity is to produce a horror film. It must be produced and was showcased on the last day of the workshop. It was really a great experience and that didn't just end for 3 days. Our film was also showcased in a big screen at SM Lanang Premiere last October 28, 2017.

The film that we produced during the workshop was entitled Urom. But because the film Urom was made during the workshop, my team the Silver Lining Productions also produced a film for the open category competition of the Davao Ngilngig Film Festival; entitled "Taguan". Making these two films is really fun, memorable and full of learning. Sharing the BTS (behind the scenes) to you in details might happen soon.

Now this December a Mindanao Film Festival came to town. We've heard about it since summer and my team already planned to join the festival. The film that we produced was entitled "TFTA" (thanks for the add). In the middle of busy academic schedules, we barely manage to give some time to shoot the film. Struggles and challenges came but still, we were victorious. Glory to God. Yesterday, December 7 our film was showcased at Gaisano Mall Cinema 6 around 5 pm and it will be screened also on December 11 at the same venue.

I met a guy on social media who was also a filmmaker. In our conversation, we had a topic about winning an award. He asked the question "Does an award really mean a lot to you?" I answered yes. Gaining an award is really an unexplained feeling. There are times where my team and I are expecting to win an award but didn't get it, due to that circumstance my mindset really changed. The saying "expect less and hope for the best" were embedded in my mind and it always reminds me during awards night.

For me in these times, being able to showcase our films in cinemas was already an award for me. Maybe I have this kind of mindset right now because my experience is still shallow. I know that mindsets will change in time, but it will change if you already learned and experienced a lot. I cooperate in making films not because it is related to my course, but because in film, I can make my imaginations into a story and my team and I are able to entertain, inform and educate the masses through it.

To those people who organize a film festival, I really salute you. (I hope you can read this) You might not gain profit out of it yet you still organize these events. The film festivals really boost up the eagerness of the independent filmmakers to produce films and to showcase our craft and passion to the masses. Almost all of the organizers of the film festivals are volunteers. They gave effort, time and passion for the love of film.
